During the last weekend of April over seventy Polish students, mainly presidents and MB members of Polish Societies from around 20 British universities, gathered in Oxford to take part in the Congress of the Polish Societies of the UK. Professors Leszek Kołakowski and Zbigniew Pełczynski as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, honoured the Congress with their presence. The aim of the Congress was to create an organizational platform within and for the Polish student community of the UK, particularly between Polish Societies at British universities, and the development of leadership skills of the participants (www.polishcongress.org). We are pleased to inform that BAS participated actively in the Congress. We took part in the Societies Panel and gave the participants a flavour of BAS with a multimedia presentation. BAS and the participants of the Congress expressed their willingness to cooperate. So far, twenty two participants of the Congress applied for BAS membership. Next meeting of the Congress' participants is planned towards the end of June in Warsaw. We encourage you to participate in this enterprise. Please enquire for details by sending an email to the address given below. Karol Lasocki, BAS Membership Officer
